The Lakeland league is still working on a format that supports a safe model of running XC meets. The meets that we used to run in on Sundays had about 600-800 kids in it. Since outdoor gatherings have been reduced to 250, we have to come up with a way to run meets that are in compliance, which might mean dual/tri or quad meets (meaning that we would compete against only 1, 2 or 3 other towns.)
We are working on putting together the registration on TeamSnap with all the necessary extra Covid-19 paperwork. RT Racers is committed to running a program!
In the meantime you can help us by sending an email to email@example.com if your child is interested in participating this fall. This way we get an idea of how big our team will be.
Thank you for your patience!

Hello RT Racers Families!
Here is a quick update on the upcoming XC season:
We are planning on running our program within the guidelines of the NJ Department of Health and the CDC. The guidelines are subject to frequent change and might cause us to change direction, but at this point, we are hopeful to have a cross country season in the fall.
Practices will change from Mon/Wed/Fri to Tuesday & Thursday. Location TBA.
The Lakeland League is currently working on a format for running the weekly meets at Greystone/Central Park of Morris.
Teamsnap registration will open the first week of August. A registration link will be posted here. We will also email the link to all past participants.
In the meantime, please contact us with questions at firstname.lastname@example.org
We hope that all of our RTRacers athletes, families, coaches, volunteers, and friends have been staying healthy throughout these unprecedented times.
Our goal had been to have a track season this spring, even if it was delayed or looked different. Unfortunately, with the news this week that schools would remain closed through the end of the academic year, we have no choice but to cancel the track season. Please be aware of the following:
All registration fees will be refunded in full. This will be done by the end of the week but may take 5-7 business days to become effective.
All merchandise orders that were placed have come in and should have already been distributed. Please let us know if you have not received your order.
As many of you know, the RTRacers track team is like a family. Many of our runners start in the clinic program and continue as a varsity athlete all the way through middle school. Not only do our runners achieve personal bests in races and events, but they also make valuable and long-lasting friendships. Many of our parents start as volunteers and find themselves becoming coaches, even after their child has graduated from the program. We also have many graduates that return each year to volunteer and mentor other runners. Not being able to have a season is a tremendous disappointment, but we know that it is a decision that helps to ensure the health and safety of all of us. We would like to thank everyone that had planned on volunteering and coaching to make this another successful year.
While we may not be able to get together on the field, we are still working on ways to honor our graduating runners that were not able to take one last lap together on the track. More news on this to follow.
As the weather gets nicer, continue to exercise and wear your RTRacers gear. We look forward to seeing our long-distance runners in the fall for the Cross Country season, and everyone back on the track in 2021!
We hope that everyone is staying healthy, practicing social distancing, and enjoying time with their family as we navigate through these unpredictable times.
Ironically, this is the first time in years that the mild winter and temperatures would have worked in our favor to practice outside. Usually, we would all be bundled up in layers complaining about how cold it is at the Morris Hills track and wondering why we can’t practice indoors.
We would like to take some time to update everyone on where things stand with the current track season.
Unfortunately, we are still unable to schedule practices and start the season. As long as the schools and fields remain closed, we will not be able to practice. As a best-case scenario, we will look to start the season after Spring Break. However, this remains dependent on whether schools are reopened.
In the interim, Coach Steve has posted workouts for RT Racers on the online training app. Details about that were emailed to you. There are also some workouts if you are stuck inside or in your backyard – they are posted under the “workouts” tab. There is one specifically for the clinic. Have the family join in as well!
We remain hopeful that we will be able to have a track season. However, at this point, the health and safety of all racers, coaches, volunteers, family, and friends remain our top priority.
In the event that the track season must be canceled, we will issue refunds to all registrants. Until that time, please allow us to navigate the current situation rather than e-mailing us to request a refund.
Spirit wear: Has arrived and everyone who ordered has been contacted.
We will continue to update everyone. Stay healthy, and keep running.
We are excited for the upcoming track season to start. While the weather has been cooperating, unfortunately, other things have presented new challenges for us to think about and consider.
As everyone is well aware, the Coronavirus has thrown the entire world upside down.
While we would love to get on the track and start the season, we feel that it is important to put other priorities first. Like everyone else, the health and safety of all of our RTRacer kids, families, coaches, and volunteers is of utmost importance.
This is uncharted territory for everyone, and we are hopeful that we will be able to start practicing as soon as possible. However, at this time, we feel that the best course of action is to take things on a week by week basis and delay the start of the season.
There will not be any practices from March 16th to March 27th. We will continue to communicate with everyone and are hopeful that we will be able to begin the season soon.
In the interim, we will be sending out some workouts that we hope families may use until we are able to start practicing as a team.
Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns. Stay healthy, keep running, and we look forward to starting the season soon.
